News for the weeks of January 16 to 30
Movie Night at Rosemary Heights
A very special “Freedom Friday” event has been planned for Friday, February 3rd. The T.E.A.M. Managers will be hosting a movie night for the Rosemary Heights community in the school gym from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The feature film will be The Smurfs movie. Tickets will be sold for $2.00 per person. Sales will begin on Friday, January 27th. Hot chocolate and popcorn will be sold for $1.00 each during the movie night. At the end of the evening, one lucky viewer will be selected to take home the Smurf DVD to keep! Please mark this special date on your calendar. Money raised from this event will also be donated to charity.
Flu Season
We've had quite a few students and staff come down with the stomach flu that seems to come around every year. Usual symptoms are a stomach ache and/or fever, followed by vomiting and/or diarrhea.
A few children have vomited in the classroom. While this is never expected, it becomes challenging for teachers and students as they have to relocate to another room for cleaning by District Staff. Our medical room can accommodate only one student at a time.
If possible, it would be appreciated if you could keep your child(ren) home for at least 24 hours after the last symptom has disappeared.
If illness is noticed in the morning it would be best for the students to remain at home for the day.
Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) for Grades 4 and 7 - week of January 16

Reporting lates and absences
Thank you to the many parents who call into the school office to report that their child will be absent or late. When calling, please remember to include the child's division number or teacher, AND the reason your child is going to be away or late that day. We're required to indicate on the attendance reports the reason for the absence (e.g. illness, medical or dental appointments, vacation). The answering machine is available 24 hours a day for your convenience at (604) 541-1613.
Visitor Badges
Thank you to the many parents that sign into the school office when they are visiting the school. We are missing many of the tags from the school office. As these are very important to the safety of the students while in school, we would appreciate them being returned if you accidentally took one home. Thank you.
Early Dismissal Days Cancelled
The following early dismissal days are cancelled: Wednesday, February 8 and Thursday, February 9. Friday, February 10 is a pro-d day and children do not attend school.
Jump Rope for Heart
The Jump Rope for Heart event will take place on Friday, February 24. The envelopes and handbook were distributed to the students on Thursday, January 26. The deadline for returned envelopes will be Wednesday, February 29.
Jump Club for grades K-3
The Jump Club tradition continues at Rosemary Heights. Students in grades 1-3 are invited to join in the fun every Friday morning in the gym for the next few weeks from 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Kindergarten students are invited to jump at noon Fridays.
In order to keep traffic running smoothly, and for the safety of the students, please do not park in the drop-off area. If you are taking your child(ren) into the gym for Jump Club, please park in spaces provided in the parking lot. This will help other parents and staff entering and leaving the parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation with this important matter.
Starbucks Coffee Mornings: next coffee morning is Friday, February 3
