Rosemary Heights Code of Conduct


Our Code of Conduct is to ensure the safety of staff and students at Rosemary Heights and to provide the best learning environment possible so our students can achieve their best.
 

Safe and caring school environments

Safe and caring school environments are free from acts of:

  • Bullying
  • Cyber bullying
  • Harassment
  • Threat
  • Intimidation
  • Violence in any form
  • Verbal, physical or sexual abuse
  • Discrimination in any form
  • Theft
  • Vandalism
  • Retribution against a person who has reported incidents
  • Misuse of cyberspace/cell phones/ electronic devices/computers. Students may be subject to discipline for misuse of technology if it negatively impacts on the school environment.

Safe and caring school environments do not tolerate the presence of:

  • Intoxicating substances
  • Weapons and explosives
  • Intruders or trespassers

Conduct expectations

Rosemary Heights is committed to providing a safe school for all students. Safe and appropriate behaviour is expected of all students, at school, on field trips, and travelling to and from school. Weapons or replicas of weapons are prohibited and will be confiscated and the parents of students in possession of these items will be notified. Smoking and the use of any illicit substances are prohibited. Harassment and racism are prohibited and any incidences must be reported.  

Consequences at Rosemary Heights

Consequences for inappropriate behaviour are to be consistent and fair. Students and parents, as often as possible are encouraged to participate in the development of meaningful consequences for violations of the Rosemary Heights Code of Conduct.

Rising expectations

As students at Rosemary Heights become older and more mature, it is expected that they:

  • Understand there are increased consequences for inappropriate behaviour.
  • Increase their sense of personal responsibility and self discipline.

Notification

Rosemary Heights Staff have an obligation to advise other parties of breaches of our school’s code of conduct, specifically:

  • Parents of student offender(s)/victim(s) will be advised in every instance. 
  • School District officials will be advised as required by school district policy. 
  • Police and/or other agencies will be advised as required ny law. 
  • All parents – when it is deemed important to reassure members of the school community. 

Clothing guidelines

 

We request that our students dress appropriately for the school setting where children work, run and play. Clothing and grooming should reflect pride in self and the school.

The key principles of any clothing guideline should be:

  • Avoidance of distracting attire
  • Pride in personal grooming

Specific clothing items NOT ALLOWED WORN to school include:

  • Items that have visually inappropriate writing, images or offensive language.
  • Very short shorts/mini skirts that show under garments
  • NO exposed midriffs
  • Spaghetti strap tank tops
  • See through tops (must have undershirt/tank underneath).

In addition, the following items are NOT ALLOWED WORN within the building:

  • Hat or visor
  • Hood (on hooded sweat top)
  • Rollershoes
